There was not "purchased from charity" so chose auction (bricks & mortar). |

For number of total transactions: ebay. I went to only three shows this year, but at two of them I diffused into a quivering blob of fiscally cretinous protoplasm, so for sheer quantity of philatelic purchases, "in person at stamp shows" earned my vote. I may be an idiot, but months later I'm still going through those collections, and I'm digging every second of it. |

I clicked on Stamp shows but actually it was a Congress which included an auction, dealers tables and private exchanges or sales.
Maybe adding 'other' would have been a good idea given some of the previous comments.

I started out buying from hobby stores, but after several bad experiences with Harris Stamp bags (I once got mostly US Forever stamps out of a "300 World" bag) and a bit of education I now mostly buy from two local shops. I've had lots of fun digging through the bulk bargain bin and "your choice" albums (not rare or mint, sure, but cheap, and I've found some surprisingly old stamps). |

Bidstart (hipstamps) & APS stamp store. Some ebay (auctions only- I don't mess with "but it now") |

most of my 2016 stuff (soviet-Russian space program) I got from: 1. ebay.com 2. delcample.com 3. Russian trading grounds - newauction.ru & meshok.net 4. directly from the dealer sites - Lollini, spacecoverstore, etc. 5. forums 6. personal connections with collectors and dealers 7. auctions I estimate around 200-300 new covers, mostly cheap all-around items with some exceptions. |

Quote: I diffused into a quivering blob of fiscally cretinous protoplasm, This has to be one of the most colorful explanations of why you exceeded your stamp budget I've ever heard. I LOVE IT! As for me: (1) ebay(2) APS Sales Circuits (3) Stamp club (4) USPS (5) Kelleher Auctions |

Living on an isolated island (Tasmania!) no real opportunities to purchase locally. Have consistently shopped ebay from reputable sellers. |
