Kirk had a wonderful idea last week – to establish a new sub-forum for the 'I inherited some stamps' posts. He kindly wrote a sticky "FAQ" and introduction. Bobby stepped up and established the new sub-forum and many of the existing threads have been moved into this new forum. It is a great place for newer members to come up to speed on some of the previous advice that has been offered by our community for those who are in this position. Please consider supporting this new sub-forum; these are potentially new hobbyists who we can introduce to our hobby. If anyone spots any new posts which fall under this topic but are in another sub-forum, please let us know and we will move it. Thanks Don https://goscf.com/f/57

Don,
Please correct spelling in FAQ Title: "Answes" should be "Answers" |

I wonder if ' inherited' is too specific. For example, folks who score at a garage sale ... How about "I've come into some stamps" or "I've come across some stamps"? Cheers, /s/ ikeyPikey |

ikeyPikey, with all the respect I have for you, I think that your suggestion would be more confusing and this comes from a French Canadian - Cheers/Salut ! to you also |

Good idea. I am a "reborn" collector after a 50+ year absence who has been purchasing a variety of older U.S. albums for two years. I now have 1000's of used/mint U.S. stamps that I can donate to a person or group that might be interested. I don't have the time or interest in sorting and selling so I can give them away. There is no local club in my area so that is not a good alternative.
The notion of an " inheritance" group might help me make these items available to someone. |

We chose the word _INHERIT_ because it's the most popular search term.
So, while we appreciate everyone's input and feedback, we based the choice on data and won't be changing the name.

New to the 'forum' platform - if I have questions about recently inherited stamps, what is the preferred protocol? They are from around the world, not postmarked, in glassine envelopes with identifying info on each. Oh where to begin?? Thank you in advance! |

Welcome jingold. The inherited section is for introductions and general questions and answers about inheriting stamps and covers. If you are going to post images with specific stamps or lots of similar stamps then it would be best to post these in a more appropriate sections. For example; one of the categories under the "World Stamps and Covers Discussions" section or one of the "US Stamps and Covers Discussions" categories. Don |
