I am tying to find out more info on this cancel. It looks like it may be A.L. Scovill & Co. It has one weak right side up strike, and 2 inverted strikes. Just cant make out entire passage. This is the first one I have seen, is it common?
Thanks KirkS, been using that site for some time, it doesn't show much more than what you see in above pic. I was hoping someone that was familiar with that canx would know it by heart. I didnt have much time to try to layer the individual strikes in photo editor, and get it down to one.
An aside-the photo was attributed to Boutrelle. Adrian Boutrelle was a wonderful philatelic photographer for many decades who was already in his 70's when he took this photo. A lovely man who I was fortunate to know for a few years at that time. Nice to see his name again, it brings back fond memories.
Dan, It is not a very clear strike, but I would be happy to email you a higher resolution picture for your site. Thanks to all for the great information.
