I am in the processing of cataloging (in EzStamp) my WW used collection. When I went to enter Netherlands 149 (7-1/2 c Queen Wilhelmina) I find EzStamp listing it as yellow (with an accompanying picture), while the copy I have is orange. I checked the Scott catalog (2009), and it lists the stamps color as orange. However, a quick search of HipStamps finds listings of the stamp, with some yellow and some orange. Is the yellow color stamp a variant that is not differentiated in Scott? Or is it a color change due to aging (or some other mechanism)?

Thanks.

dkabq8, my trusty NVPH Speciale Catalogus tells me the official color of your stamp is yellow. However, in my personal collection I have some of these that ( with a bit of freedom ) can be called orange. I believe that there is a fairly wide range of colors with this "yellow". partially due to age but maybe also due to the printing back then?

The yellow stamp is a 1925 issue. In a later series there was a 7,5 cent stamp issued in 1929 in red. Nvph number 180. This is a fairly bright red color which can be easily mistaken for a dark orange color.

Following can also help to identify:

The 7,5 yellow is from a series without watermark.
The 7,5 Red is from a series with watermark rings

Johan.

Here is a scan of my stamp.

After further scrutiny of the catalog, I see that 149 is unwmk while 175 (red) is wmk 202. And after a quick Ronsonol bath, 175 it is. To me the stamp looks more orange than red, and the (what is guess is an) error in the Scott led me to deem it a 149 without checking for a watermark.

Thanks for the help!

My original post was obviously wrong the picture sure helped a bunch. Your #175 looks right I was initially thinking it was Image A24 for some reason, my bad looked at cat photo above not image number in listing.
