First let me preface this with I am by no stretch of the imagination an expert in this area, but this one has me wondering. Currently on ebay there is a listing for a mint C15 that looks a bit funny to me. There's a lot of what appears to me to bits missing from the lettering. Would be interested to have others confirm or deny my suspicions (Probably deny). The listing number is 272520987560

Link please. There are far too many ebay listings for C15 to sort through. If nothing else, is it a single or part of a set, and what is the asking price?

Looks authentic to me.

The missing bits you might be referring to may be just an inking issue such as some parts not getting inked that should have. This can happen if the paper is too dry when it meets the inked plate, resulting in less than full ink absorption by the paper. This happens most commonly on the sheet edges, which this is an example of. The printing paper was moistened in batches, then run through the printing process. The paper at the bottom of the stack tended to dry out near the edges by the time they got used, resulting in the "dry printing" effect.

Uboatnut....I gave the ebay auction number at the end of my post. All you have to do is copy the number, go to ebay, and paste the number in the ebay search and the item will come up. I think my question has been answered though.

The scan in the ebay listing also appears over saturated and out of color calibration, which can make a legit stamp look fake.
