Hi guys...Usually I use Unitrade, N.S.S.C. or BNAPS for Canadian stamps...But I am going to have to rely on my American friends to tell me if this 20 cent and 50 cent stamps are re-entry/slip print/kiss print...Any help is appreciated.

This is my normal 20 cent stock transfer stamp.

This is my double impression 20 cent stack stamp

This is also a double print on 50 cent stamp

If that is an RD4, Scott does list it with double impression. I will let others more knowledgeable chime in to see if that is correct.

Neither of these are double impressions. They are typical offset impressions, which occasionally "bounce" when printed. Double impressions are much more obvious. Look at these from Eric Jackson's website:

This is a partial response to the initial inquiry. These are not double impressions of the basic stamp design. The method of producing the plates changed about 1924 to what are called high etch plates, although they were still used on the offset presses. The late George Brett sometimes referred to these as letterset printings, letter press plates used on the offset press. The extra lines (inward in the central numeral and outside the frame lines) result from improper adjustment of offset press. Brett called this phenomenon "squeeze." This only occurs on the offset printings after 1924. It is seen on all the offset printed revenue stamps after 1924.

A true double impression results in doubling of the whole design in the same direction, left, right, up, or down. The doubling shown here is inward in the interior and outward on the borders, always into an otherwise unprinted area.

Please ask follow-up questions. I will try to answer. I will also try to scan some true double impressions.

Might this be a triple impression? The sharpness of th edges suggests to me that this was printed from photolithographic plates, not the high etch plates that tend not to have sharp, crisp edges.

Hi

Here are some stock transfer double impressions, along with some other stock transfer varieties. Thought you might want to see them.

Jim
