I am trying to identify a 4c (corrected from original OP) Sultan Ibrahim Johore. I need to determine the watermark. This could be Rossette, Multicrown CA, or Script CA. This is a wet scan with Clarity watermark fluid - process was easy. I have tried different color filters on image with no luck either. This is a normal scan but darkened slightly. Any clues?

Hi. impossible to say from the photo we have. Try taking a photo with the stamp held up with a bright light behind...we need more contrast.. |

I'm a little confused. You stated 1c, but posted a sample 4c stamp.
If 1c, the rosette watermarks (#47 & #71) only appears on the violet & green stamp, while the script CA multiple crown watermark (#4) appears on a violet & black stamp. You should be able to differentiate between the rosette and crown watermarks by stamp color alone. Scott does not list the stamp with watermark #3 (multicrown CA, block letters).
The watermark scan does appear to show "red" value tablets, which suggests the 4c stamp rather than the 1c stamp.
Please also show front of stamp so we can see the color/denomination of the stamp, and the position/style of any postmarks.
Anything in the upper center of the stamp will be significantly obscured/masked by the portrait. Likewise with the lower corners by the value tablets.
There appears to be something on the right, slightly above the middle, but without seeing the cancels on the front of the stamp, I'm hesitant to say whether it is a rosette or a crown. There also might be something at the bottom, between the 2 value tablets. But again, could that be due to a cancel?
Picture of front of stamp, please. Thank you. |

I fixed the original post. It was 4c (had fixed the title).
Wert, I see features but the cancellations on details on front come through. Are you thinking it is something? |

Here are 3 scans - all auto exposure. 1. front 2. reverse on black background (no light from backside) 3. reverse on scanner background (some light reflected back) I see something at around 4 o'clock position but nothing like what I am looking for. |

Try taking a pic with bright light behind. The best way is to cut a small rectangular hole a bit smaller than the stamp in some black dense paper or something like that.Place the stamp over the opening and affix the stamp between some transparent plastic and tape it to the paper.Hold it in front of a light bulb to take the pic.. |

We've all got a few of these. I used this to photograph different papers, setting the card on top of a bright light. Just cut the hole to the stamp image size. |

I will have to work on something like that. A light box is not uncommon. I was playing a SW/LW light and no help either. I found another one that I cannot tell due to the damage to the gum side. |
