Hi guys..I would like your opinion on whether these Scott 255 and scott 266 stamps qualify as complete offsets...

It makes a different from $1.00-$4.00 to $175.00-$275.00..Fingers crossed..haha

I don't collect Newfoundland or have any offset stamps, but wonder if these are simply printed on thin paper.

also - if they are offsets, why are the borders on the reverse not as whitish as the borders of the front of the same stamps.

BlackJag..Because they are gummed and tend to yellow over time as most older stamps do.

Robert

And here is another example of a stamp with thick paper.

Sorry Wert, not offsets, offsets usually appear on the gum, looks like your stamps are no gum versions.
Usually offsets are blurry, does that make sense?

here are some examples

That depends on whether they were printed on pregummed paper (offset on gum), or gummed after printing (offset on paper under gum).

These all look like offsets. The catalogued variety is the OFFSET ON GUM variety.

wert, your examples are not that strong but appear to be offsets. Not sure they would sell for the catalogued price. However, Trodent's examples are beautiful and I'm sure they would sell as catalogued.

Here is one from the current Maresch Sale.

Wert,

So great you keep sharing. I'm doubtful for reasons expressed above

Nice though
