I wish I could afford a 43-44-45L1L strip. For sure I would never cut it. |

I sold this on ebay last year. A really nice strip containing 32-42-52R9, 52R9 of course is the big DT. |

WSinclair,
my mistake. The DT in 44L1L and 34L1L are very similar. Plus, both recut top and bottom once... However my stamp is relief A, yours is relief B.
Regardless, middle stamp probably grade 98 if cut up and PSE doesn't grade based on pen versus non pen cancel as I recall (I think). If you sold at major auction house I think you would get what you are asking, perhaps more. Its a nice item. I would never cut it up. Its a great plating item. |

Classic Coin, I agree it's definitely one of the better double transfers found on these Old Blue Franklins! |

You guys are having so much fun-- I want to play too! 91R12 (but I admittedly don't plate the 3 centers) 71L1L 8R8 8R8 on cover 10R8 (bad copy, but I'm trying to find the entire A Relief of all Type V/Va plates, and it's the only copy I've found so far... Have really enjoyed seeing all of the gems you've posted.....Thanks! Ray |

This thread is quite the celebration of Toppan Carpenter's inability to make quality plates. I will give the die engravers credit, however, they made some beautiful designs.
When I get some more time I'll dig up another item or two to post. |

72-73-74R12, all three positions DT and 74R12 called out by Neinken as a "big double transfer" (p. 493). Thank you, Winston. |

dudley - what a terrific cover! That would probably benefit from a little professional restoration, but I don't even know who does that anymore. I'm not brave enough to do much more than take a polymer eraser gently to rough areas sometimes. |

Dudley, nice strip of 3 DTs-- gold medal for most DTs on one cover! Here is a 5R1L with nice DT at top. I'm working on the top row of 1L. This one has a graded cert. |

to go along with my 5R1L DT above , here is my 4R1L with similar DT. It is the 3rd pic of Scott #7, 4R1L, posted on this thread, suggesting the importance of this stamp in any collection of 1c Franklin stamps. This is a sound copy with 4 margins. Picked it up a few months ago at auction. |
