Look at stamps 6 and 8 in this block. The copyright symbol shows a short "c." Anyone else seen this?

The symbol is hard to see in the scans even at 600. Here's a 1200.

Interesting. Missing ink? Dirt on the plate? Something else is wrong - Wert did not report this! Am I to believe that Robert now has a following?

CanadaStamp...It all depends on ink....I have seen these with skinny and thick spires also...Seen this on other stamps, but in my opinion not a true variety..

The short c appears on 2 of the 10 stamps.

Those stamps and older stamps like the C5
have some oddities with lettering (short 5 in 1935), but are not considered constants....See stamp below.

I am with Robert on this. I believe it is just some missing ink which would make it a freak or an oddity, but not a constant plate variety. A very collectible item nevertheless.

To me, white space is typical of dry ink stuck in the small crevice of the design on the plate for engraved stamps. This dry ink does not make a mark on the stamp paper. This is a possible explanation for this type of error.
