Can anyone direct me to a listing or partial listing of images of A. C. Roessler air mail envelope designs? Is there such a thing? Is there a listing of early air mail envelope designs in general? I collect 1920's-30's air mail envelope designs and would like to be able to group them by designer if possible. I know that Benjamin Dalke was the first to patent an air mail envelope design, the classic red and blue diamond border.

I have a found a site, http://rhcourtney-collector.com that displays many different types of early air mail covers but does not identify who designed them. Is there such a site.

Thanks,

John

...even his name was fiction (Mr. Albert Roe)
narrowly avoided a prison sentence, and died in poverty and obscurity.

His items once spurned, are now highly desirable by us as a group.

Many of his items are complete forgeries. He used a number of aliases in his forgeries. Any cover addressed or from the following names are ones he created: Albert C. Rossler, AC Rossler, AC Roe, Roberta Roe, and G. Nelson Lyons. There are a some collectors who buy and collect them as forgeries but I am not one of them.

John:

I also collect covers with variant airmail borders, and while I can identify a few designers of the borders, I do not know of a site that compares and lists them.

If I have any additional information, and. with your permission, I will send a private email to you with images of the covers for which I have identified the designers.

John:

That is a fantastic site for airmail borders. Like the site's creator, I found the number of variant covers amazing. I have not collected these systematically for the last couple of years, but last time I counted my acquisitions I have over 250 different. Mr. Courtney has several I don't have and I suspect I have some he doesn't. Seems like I have seen his collection before and I emailed him about exchanging information, but never received a reply.

I doubt that this collecting area has much interest for most viewers of the forum, but if you would like to exchange information on the designs and border designers, please send me a private email and we'll get started.

Don,

I'd really like to see some of your design collection. I've only recently (about 2 years) gotten into early airmail cover designs. I try to limit my collection to pre-1940 airmail envelope designs. So far I've accumulated around 180 covers but with a lot of duplication. Since I'm a newbie I can't email you directly so can you email me at *** Edited by Staff - Please Review the rules that you agreed to when you registered. ***

Hi and
Sorry, got to have 50 posts. Rules are rules for reasons.
Show us your earliest, your favorite, your most unusual airmail covers. By the time you're done telling us why you like 'em, you'll be much closer to 50.
