I have been attempting to find information pertaining to this Queen Victoria 1 shilling- revenue stamp with the overprint shown. I looked through the net, and could not find anything similar. It appears to be a something like a US precancel with unusual pattern in the middle. Not sure where is the location in the inverted style writing. I am not accustomed to seeing precancels/ overprint revenues like this from this country. Are they common with this pattern for this revenue or is it scarce? I would appreciate any input. Thank you in advance.
Opinion. Part of a Revenue commercial rubber stamp.
The stamps has dual use, Postage and Fiscal There are two things going on, on the stamp, you have the manuscript cancel (scratch cancel) of 30/12/92 Then the unknown elipse and bars rubber stamp from some unknown document strike.
The only ones I see regularly, are the SEXAGENARY IR official overprint strike on these.
Thank you, Rod for your great observation and comment. I truly appreciate it. I have no idea what the value maybe, but I believe this may be a true unusual scarce stamp. I did see the IR on them as well, but never viewed before with a an elipse and bars rubber stamp strike. It is unique. I am going to send some pics to a few places to see if they ever viewed something like this as well. Thank you!
Yes, Rod. Those are the Sexagenary IR's I have seen as well. The PFoundation has a few on their certification site, however, not all sent were genuine overprints. I checked their site immediately to see if they had any similar one as well. It was interesting, they had one of their certifications was a genuine stamp, however the cancellation was not. It makes me wonder about my own stamp. It is very unique with having cancellations in this manner. The stamp could be genuine, but not the cancellation even with the date on it.
