Hi!im trying to figure out what year my pennyred is!i have the crown watermark with two lines in the middle but due to the heavy oblitaration I can t see the plate number,i know its a stamp after 1855 but not sure what year ! thanx from matt

The plate number is the means of determining year of issue, and I'm afraid it's not possible to see it without a decent scan, rather than a mobile photo (and maybe not then if the postmark is too heavy).

As already mentioned and you probably know that the plate number does indicate the date if printing. As it stands it would range from March 1864 to October 1879 because the plate number is unclear. Your stamp is badly centered and a bit rough looking but, it it were mine, I would give it a gentle soak in water to remove debris on the back and, although not clear from your photo, it might be possible to improve the perforations as to me they look a bit bent in places. If you soak don't immerse but float on top of the water. Although of low value the stamp was postmarked in Glasgow and has collectible check letters of AA.
