Quote:
Is your Velvet Soap postcard actually an Australian product?

Indeed it is, possibly produced under licence from Lever UK

When I was searching Lever, I arrived at the Pental site, then dismissed it.
Didn't bother scrolling.
What a day for item ID !

PS: I recall that "Velvet" soap, was it not that smelly bar of Yellow hue?
We used to employ it in the Navy to remove sweat stains on our shirt collars
(Our Navy issue bag of needles and threads, was always called our "housewife" )

Thanks Jill.

What a "Tour de force" of London Pmks, brought to our attention by Nigel,
Philatelists extraordinaire.........
Downloadable by *.pdf
Huge thanks Nigel.

Sundry Postmarks, a few LKU (Last Known Use)

BODMIN Cornwall is close to home, partly a guess, but the few cancels of Cornwall gives this strike a high chance of being a success.

The phrase, "gone" or "going Bodmin", relates to this and actually means, "going mad" or "simple". Indeed, if you describe someone as being, "a bit Bodmin", you are saying that they are not in full control of their mental faculty!

Poor Philatelic husbandry.

Lovely full gum ADMIRALTY OFFICIAL stamp, has been mounted in a SHOWGUARD mount, that was too small for it.
Result all the perforation teeth down one side have been bent and creased.

Only repair is to soak and re-press, bending dry teeth often has them break off.

Not the first time I have met with this.

Hi Rod,

Here are some perfin IDs:

CG - 7,9 - Croydon Gas Co.

Three other firms used dies with the same pin counts but all did so at later dates.

GWR - 10,14,12 - Great Western Railway

The railway used lots of different GWR dies including several with this pin count.

K - 16 - Kynoch Ltd, Lyon Works, Birmingham

although the firm had been renamed as ICI (Metals) Ltd by the date of this stamp. This perfin was used from 1905 to 1965.

There were lots of different perfins with just a single letter K including a couple from Kodak.

The Kynoch Ltd one is the only one in my catalogue with 16 pins.
