Dear Stamp Community Family

Again I have some questions about a few stamps. This time the revolutionary or liberation issues from former czechoslovakia. Almost all catalogs push this issues in the direction "unofficial issues" or call them equal "Bogus". But this is not my question, everyone should have their own opinion about it. For me there are interesting witnesses that show the pride of a nation after recovering from dictatorial occupation. Only to sneak into the next dictatorship shortly thereafter.

The first two issues were described by a previous owner on the back. But in my catalogues of Karel Holoubek (Compendium of 1944-1945 Liberation overprints/Ceska Republika - Revolucni Vydani (Kveten 1945)) I can neither find "Melnik" nor "Redin". And also the World Wide Web lets me down here. But I trust that there are some real experts among the members who can tell me where these stamps come from. Of course with detailed sources.

Thanks for any information you can give.

Best regards from Switzerland.

André

Dear André,

I'm not, by any means, an expert on Czechoslovaquia overprints. But in the work of my late friend, Joan Santaeugenia Grau "Checoslovaquia 1944-1945 Revolutionary Stamps ans Overprints", Barcelona, Catalonia, 1996. I can see your overprinted stamps.
I hope that this information can be useful for you.

Greetings from Catalonia (not too far from Switzerland!)

Dear Cursus

This is the catalogue I am looking for since a while. But I think it is very hard to find one (in good condition). I thought that the Galvez catalogue is hard to find, but last week I was able to find at least the 1970's reprint of the 1960 catalogue (from a seller in Barcelona).

If you know a possibility where I can buy a copy of Mr. Grau's catalogue please let me know.

Thanks a lot.

Best regards to Catalunya.

André

There is a copy of Grau's book available from Zubal Books in the U.S. for $98. I located it using Bookfinder.com, searched under author "Juan Grau" and title "sellos".

Regards, Robert

Thank you very much for your nice words. But, the author's family name was "Santaeugenia". In general, we use just one name and two family names. The first, is the father's one (in this case, "Santaeugènia" and the second, the mother's (in this case, "Grau"). Although this is going to change and parents will be able to choose which family name (father's or mother's)will be the main one.
In Catalonia ("Catalunya" for us, as André correctly points) also, a married woman keeps her own family name.
So, we should speak of Mr. Santaugenia's work.
I'm afraid, I only have my own copy, dedicated by the autor, and just the B/W version, not the later colour one.

Dear Robert (Trainwreck)

Many thanks for your hint. It was possible for me to order the book. Now I can hardly wait for the delivery to arrive and my stock of catalogs is growing...

To all:

It is always a pleasure to communicate with such people as here in the forum. There is so much knowledge available and everyone helps everyone. Just great.

This is what makes me "globalization". A Swiss asks, an Australian or Catalan passes on his knowledge, an US-American gives an important note ... it works!

Best regards from Switzerland

André
