I never owned one. I presume it's usefulness was diminished when the PSS Town and Type catalog editors got real serious about footnote-3 (font varieties exist) and footnote-4 (line spacing varieties exist). That is about all the information precancel collectors normally need.

Thanks for the reply! I just noticed a reference to it by Fred Ingram on his data base, didn't know if it's something that might come in handy.

Which brings up another question. Ingram's data base has listings that are labeled as variations and sometimes shifts, but the PSS doesn't recognize them as a different type. But since a lot of the variations/shifts are vinyl stamps what's the thinking of this?
