Young Farmers. Sc#262 A dying breed, we are experiencing a huge prolonged drought here in Australia Quite a large "misregistration" Linus. Doubt if it would attract much of a premium. |

I was not expecting any added value, nevertheless, I like it very much, because it is different and a survivor, as a block.
Too much rain here in Iowa. Farmers battling mud everywhere for weeks now to get the grain harvested. Finally starting to dry up a little this week. I did not get my third cutting of hay done due to rain, then the days got shorter, and I just gave up and put my equipment in the barn for winter.

OK, another chance for Rod to show off his Identification skills. I can't find this in my ACSC 2017 catalog ... maybe it is a one-off. Scott 24 MNH pair. Based on color, probably ACSC 85 (Brown). The seller described it as "broken crown at middle left". I think they were looking in this area, which looks interesting. However, I thought the mark above the Emu's back was much more substantial. Unfortunately, I still can't find it. Any help? |

Just got back from the city Steve (400Km and 15hrs) I recall a "saddle on the Emu" I'll do some research and get back (If I don't fall asleep)
Certainly something in the Crown (5 pearls) That design where the crown cuts the outer ring of AUSTRALIA always looks to me like a flaw, albeit, just a design peculiarity. But your has a Blob.
By calling it "85" the corollory is Die 1, Type 2 Wmk, Guaged 14.24 x 14.
Surely not "Brown" , I'd suggest #85A Deep Red Brown.

I cannot see anything at a cursory glance. It needs a specialist. Opinion: Maybe an EFO? both spots have an uncanny similarity, to chads having fallen on the plate, and stuck in the ink. I certainly wouldn't dismiss it.

I am leaning toward an EFO, since the saddle mark looks so substantial, I am sure it would have been identified before now. Maybe it will pop up somewhere. Here is another, Scott 6, ACSC 15. This one has an easily seen mark about the IA, which I believe is ACSC 15(U)h, Color Flaw over IA, State I. |

Corollory First Watermark ACSC #15A Orange Issue 6,000,000 Use : combined registration and letter rate with Aust and Brit. Emp. Agree #15 (U) = unlocated, h state 1.
Shades susceptible to fading in sunlight Thin paper ? >0.07mm Most flaws as yours, present in the late printings.
Note: ACSC 15(1)f looks very similar to your Red-Brown 1.5d KG5 this should encourage you to report the flaws on your KG5, rather than dismiss them as EFO's...you never know, and adds to a knowledge base.

Quote: Email direct to Mr. Kellow? Will do. Great Steve, no doubt he is a busy fellow, please let us know his opinion, if he replies. They are at least, two astonishing varieties. The blob on the back of the Emu, one can see the shading lines underneath, which would suggest an EFO ink. But what do I know? |

The blob on the back of the Emu, one can see the shading lines underneath, which would suggest an EFO ink. But what do I know? Apparently, quite a bit. Geoff handed this off to a local expert on the issue. That expert replied very quickly and suggested that the top stamp was a printing / inking flaw, just as you suspected. He was more interested in the bottom stamp, and concluded that it was "UCV C504" due to several small indications and being a marginal watermark on the left. Thanks again to SCF for the detective work. |

Steve, I gotta say, it's just marvellous when a real specialist replies, to any query, but in such fast fashion...exemplary. Look forward to getting out the Catalogue re the C504 ! |

Here's my favourite postage due oddity (I pinched the scan from Leski's auction site but I bought the companion pair from the vendor). The catalogue requires 'misplaced value tablet' to be misplaced as far as the outside of the green frame or a similar distance vertically. |

Haven't posted in awhile. (A broken foot tends to slow one down, but leaves more time for stamps ... Warning to all! Don't play sports like you're 30 years younger. Just saying.) This was an inexpensive pickup on ebay. I saw a plate variety, and made a bit. Arrived today. What I have is Scott 68c, ACSC 91(4)k, "Dot before three". A bit ugly, but the variety is clear of the cancel. Flemington, Victoria. |
