Was just looking at my Scott 595 stamps and notice something different on one of them..The far left ram was different on one stamp.

Below is a normal one on the left and the weird one on the right.

Now a "ONE OFF" is something we come across once in a while and we classify it as an "EFO"..But when I found another one having the same oddity, I started to wonder if it is indeed a variety as shown be the other stamp I came across below.

Makes you wonder, dosen"t it..??

Robert

Your stamps are the Type II variety of the 15c Mountain sheep.

There were two (2) blue cylinders used to print the stamps. What you are seeing is a minor colour shift of one of the blues.

stampquestion..If that were the case, would you not also see the shifting on other parts of the stamp..usually shifting occurs from one side to the other..I dont see any shifting on the other animals.

The 2 blues are not exact copies of each other; one is smaller than the other so it depends on the amount of the shift and the relative location to the other blue area.
