Hi Nic

Might I also suggest that you check out a sight that has been mentioned here before. www.stampalbums.com
It's a great sight that for a small fee you can have access to print out album pages for any country that you would like.
You don't even have to print out every page for each country. One friend of mine only prints off the pages as he buys the stamps to go on the pages.
You can check out the sight and also print off some pages for stamps from the USA for free.
It will give you and idea of what they look like when they are printed up.
The pages can then be punched with holes to fit a binder, or slipped into protective sleeves.
Either way works well.
Happy Collecting.
Suzanne

I Totally agree with doodles

I use this site all the Time and have printed 4 complete albums so far. I'm always on the lookout for nice binders.

I have tried a number of different kinds of stamp hinges, but recently have seen some purchased stamps that the collector used magic scott tape, they peel off very nice with no noticable damage to stamps, has anyone else tried this over a long period of time?

If you buy a used album, I strongly recommend you buy from a reliable dealer or be able to check it. Some of these used albums have been in storage. It's pretty easy to introduce a mold/mildew outbreak if you aren't careful. And you may not see it right away.

Bottom line: NEVER NEVER buy a album/collection that shows any sign of water damage or improper storage. You are simply asking for long-term trouble. You won't notice it right away, but it shows up years later.

By the way, long-wavelength (365nm) UV light is excellent for spotting mold/mildew problems in stamps.

Is there any online resource on how to check for mold/mildew in stamps or albums? I just received a used album and had not even considered this possibility, but now you have me thinking about it. I haven't noticed any signs that there would be a problem, but I would like to be 100% sure before I put it on a bookshelf at some point only to open the album at a later date to find some sort of significant damage! Thank you for any help you can provide.
