I have started collecting proofs that made it through the system. They are not exactly plentiful but are easier to find than one might think. What are difficult to find are these items still on cover. Does anyone else share an interest in these?

Very interesting topic. I have not seen any proofs that are genuinely postally used, whether in-period or not. I would like to see one genuinely used on cover. I assume you are looking for those used in-period. Do you have any scans to see?

There are a considerable number of antique canceling devices which still exist in collector hands and museums, so a canceled off-cover proof does not necessarily mean it went through the mail at all.
