New Collector Of British Empire/Commonwealth Stamps

Hi!

I am a university student from Canada that just got into collecting stamps. I collect British Empire and Commonwealth stamps from the reign of King George VI. I just think stamps from his reign are exceptionally beautiful and I do love the British Empire and Commonwealth. For me, it is amazing to see all these stamps from all these different colonies and territories all bearing the head of the British monarch.

I just bought a catalogue, 2 magnifying glasses (5x and 15x), a pair of tweezers, and an old "Crown" album for KGVI stamps.

You have chosen well. The KGVI has a beginning and an end and it covers 25% of the globe. Totally managable. I am primarily a MNH USA collector but really enjoy my KGVI MH collection. The KGVI engraved stamps look fabulous when hinged to the page. My USA MNH stamps are obscured by the mounts.

I might suggest that you collect country by country.
