Another Form of Art
My name is JKM and I am a self-taught oil/acrylic naturalist built upon my own photographs, sketches and illustrations. My late aunt and Godmother was the Quilter of the family and though I have learned to appreciate her form of art - I don't sew. So, I've tried to incorporate her kind of art with my own style. It's been interesting to say the least but now enter my late Grandfather's form of art; philately.
As I straightened a suitcase full of my Grandfather's passion, I recognized it as an immense collection, which, may not be hauled around so easily. It was as heavy as the raw cotton fabric my Aunt quilted from. But each and every stamp is beautiful: the colours, the lines, the detail and the culture. All of which amounts to the bigger picture, ironically. Philately is a brand new world I only just entered since discovering a major part of my family, seemingly over a lifetime ago. However, this has broadened my mind in a way I find ever more consuming. The more I learn, the less I actually know and now I'm intrigued.
Guidance would be appreciated concerning Canadian and various worldwide issues.
