Dear Stamp Community Family

I have here some stamps from Ukraine People's Republic with overprints I was not able to identify.

The first row, the overprint is probably russian ("10 russian Rubels"), second row it looks like polnish ("Kurierske poliewa poszta", some kind of a Courier post??). I've seen some courier field post issues in the web, but their overprint was russian/ukrainian.

The last one looks like a cinderella, maybe from Government in Exile?

Thanks a lot for helping identify these stamps.

Best regards from Switzerland

André

I can only tell you that the middle stamp is not a Polish overprint. In Polish it would read "polowa poczta"

The last stamp, is a charity stamp, to assist the raising of funds for the
Ukrainian Bandurist musical ensemble.

The stamps in the top row have the overprint "South Russia".

These three stamps are mentioned by SG (or at least stamps similar to these as there are no pictures) with the note, "It is claimed that these stamps were issued during the occupation of North Taurida by General Wrangel but no evidence of their official use is available."

I expect they are bogus. I see no reason for a Russian army to make use of Ukrainian stamps without surcharging the obsolete currency.

Those of you with a literary bent might investigate Bulgakov's The White Guard, his classic novel dealing with this turbulent period

The Days of the Turbins, his play from the same material, is also well worth seeing, should you have the opportunity.

Dear all

Thanks for your help. I guess that the stamp in second row is bogus as well. I can only find other "courier field post"-issues in cyrillic-writing.

Best regards from Switzerland

Hi
Please help me identify Ukrainian overprints.
I know Ukrainian territory was divided into six postal districts: Kyiv, Poltva, Katerynoslav, Kharkiv, Odesa and Podillia. Each district utilized a number of distinct overprinting devices and so trident-overprinted provisionals came to vary in size, color and form.
May be it's forged overprints.
Thanks

I have a Ukrainian specialized catalogue (2012). It lists these trident overprints in detail. Your stamps look superficially like one overprint used in Katerynoslav. That one is the only one where trident is boxed in. However, the problem is that it was used only on the high face value large stamps (face value in roubles), not on small low face value stamps (face value in kopeks). That means that the low value stamps either are unlisted variety or forgery. By association I would assume same verdict to all stamps in that batch.
