Dear Stamp Community Family

This time it's Mexico:

I have here eight stamps, whereby I am only at a 100% sure that it is a revenue: The red one (because there is already "Documentos" written). I do not know in which year the stamp was issued (1st Republic, Empire, 2nd Republic, during the Civil War or after the Civil War). For the next three, I know the issue years, but I'm not sure what they are. Also, revenues? For all four, the question arises, can someone identify the overprints?

However, the numeral issues in my Michel catalog (years 1886, 1887/88, 1890/95, 1895) does not contain a 10c edition in the color brown .

The orange stamp (Indigenous with the smoke sacrifice) resembles an issue from 1934. This is however purple/violet and amounts to 10 Pesos (and would be very expensive). Mine is orange and is only 50 centavos. Also in the upper left corner is the year 1930.

And the last stamp, I am able to translate it, (Local Post Office Administration, Closed and Sealed by the Office). But I can not imagine the meaning of it. Again, I would be interested in the meaning as well as the year of issue.

Thanks a lot in advance.

Best regards from Switzerland

André

The 2nd through 4th stamps are also revenues. The overprints are Mexico D.F. or Distrito Federal, the region around the capital city that is not part of any state. For date of the first see the 1915 Forbin worldwide revenue catalog at archive dot org.

The 10c stamp is listed in Scott as brown lilac. These are either ones that are more brown than lilac in shade or more likely oxidized/faded so the lilac element is largely gone/not visible.

The bottom item is a post office seal, most often used to repair envelopes torn in transit. I don't know the year of issue for this. 1892-93 are the first years of issue; there are 3 other colors, also district name overprints and perfed versions of each.

Dear hy-brasil

Thanks for your answer. With your help I have found stamps 1 to 4 in Forbin. The first (1888), second and fourth stamp are revenues for documents and books. The third one is a revenue for "Interior Income" (has something to do with bills and receipts).

The numerals are mentioned in Michel only in "lilac". So I have mentioned manually that the correct color is brown-lilac.

The last one (post office seal)is now clear.

The only one with a huge is the orange one? Anyone knows more?

Thanks a lot.

Best regards from Switzerland

André

The orange 50c seems to be a revenue stamp. Will have to check. The stamp below looks like it's from the same serie as yours.
