In anyone opinion, being stamp collectors: If one received his package, avoided other auctions for that, looked over nearly 3000 stamps and comparing them to one's collection - if one was to send them back to him, does one deserve any compensation?

My brutally candid opinion:

The seller appears to be acting unprofessional, but the buyer has very unrealistic expectations.

It's a $20 mixture (note the advertised use of the word "mixture"). Of COURSE there are going to be a lot of doubles. Mixtures/kiloware always have a lot of duplication, so I do not see that as a valid complaint, especially since the listing does not promise anything with respect to duplication or the lack thereof.

As with most mixture sellers, it was sold by weight; the seller should probably put a range, since the exact number will vary incredibly depending on the types of stamps.

The other thing we do not, and can not know, is how the OP actually communicated his dissatisfaction to the seller. Was it rude? Terse? Demanding?

Given that this is the seller's only neutral in 12 months and has zero negatives, I find things somewhat suspicious.

Rob Roy if he's sending you these messages through the ebay system, click on the report button in the body of the message.

ebay should be notified that he is harassing you due to feedback you left.

Thanks for your inputs.
I'm over 50 and still naive: Sellers that I saw, that sold stamps declaring them openly as fillers, are normal and reasonable in my eyes, and not "miraculously honest".
If expecting full honesty is unrealistic expectations - maybe I shouldn't collect stamps?
Is it unrealistic to expect a stamp dealer to have a higher moral code then a fishmonger? (if there are here fishmongers who collect stamps - I'm in trouble)
If Mr Phil Morris-Jones declares that he's a stamp dealer of some 50 years - did he knew how on what thin line he walks with his selling declarations?

To see you in court over $10 is just plain silly. I suggest you can report him to ebay for threatening you. ebay takes much better care of buyers than they do sellers.

One more thought -- Mr Phil Morris-Jones could do one of two things rather than go on a tirade: he could make nice and simply give a refund to the unhappy buyer, thus building good will, and this would be both good business practice and no skin off his nose. The buyer on ebay is always right and if he demanded to return the lot, ebay would support the buyer. Another thing Mr P M-J could do is block the buyer from future purchases.

ebay made a refund. To send him back his stamps, how o I locate a few hundred that I already placed in my collection while sorting?
Besides, he's going for thousands of pounds, as he wrote "...Case will be based on Illegal retention of unpaid items. Slander and defamatory statements..."
