Gotta love these revenues. I've often thought of getting into plating them, as quality control with them seemed to go out the window. That usually makes plating fun, and is well-illustrated in this thread so far.

It wasn't that quality control went out the window. There was a war on, the government needed the tax money desperately, and there was great pressure on everyone. In addition, there were ten different sized stamps in the first issue set, the perforating machines came from Europe, and there was no one here who knew how to adjust them in the beginning. It made for many interesting varieties.
