I have written a free web app that helps you find field pictorials for the upcoming Total Solar Eclipse visible in the United States. You can zoom, pan, hover, and click on the map, and view request addresses for more than one hundred postmarks. Enjoy!

A bit of a newbie here, how can I obtain a cover with this postmark? I will be in Wyoming on August 21 (contributing to the quadrupling of the state's population). Should I address a letter to myself and drop off at a post office somewhere listed on this awesome webtool? Can I find a pen pal that would send me a letter? It would be sweet to commemorate the occasion in this way. I imagine a cover with an eclipse postmark of an eclipse thermochromic stamp would be quite rare and valuable!!

I should link to it from the app page, but there are instructions on the site: http://collectpostmarks.com/how-to/...r-postmarks/

Hope this helps!

Oh, that's lovely. Are you a PMCC member, by any chance?

No, but I am aware of PMCC and have visited their museum in OH.

These 3 cancels were sent-for by collectors several generations ago. No idea where I got them, but a fun combination.

Driving home from Garrett, WY the day of the eclipse we stopped at Wheatland WY post office. I was able to purchase several eclipse stamp souvenir sheets and special sleeves. The cancellation was neat and they canceled the back of each souvenir sheet and I had four envelops canceled as well. I will post images later. I did NOT put the co res in the mail because the clerk told me no additional cancel would go on the cover beyond the processing bar code. Was that a good idea? I had to make a decision quickly and I'm wondering if I did it right? Either way, I have an awesome couple of items to frame along with a photo of my young family and the solar eclipse glasses. Thanks everyone for your help!
