Hi, here is an on instrument usage used in 1875!

1875 dated usages are scarce or might even say rare to find.

This is the only on instrument usage I ever encountered.

Little bit of background information: The Fourth Revenue Series Issue (R151) was first issued on 16 October 1874, and last issued on October 1875! I am assuming these R151's were on hand for some unknown period after October 1875, common sense.

The Fifth Revenue Series Issue (R152's) were first issued on 5 October 1875, and last issued on 27 April 1887!

My instrument is dated 15 December 1875, the stamp is dated 16 December 1875!

Some of the Background Information from the Boston Book.

Would like to see other on instrument usages, show us what you have.

These are very hard to find, I have this one, and a single stamp off instrument dated in 1875.

Of all the Revenue Series Issues, this is one of my favorites!

Hi all, I should have added in my original posting, a hand stamped cancel would have much preferred, but you get what you find. I'll still looking for a hand stamped cancel with clear readable 1875 date.

Hi Stampmaster,

The latest date I have in my calendar collection (ignoring the battleships) is 28 June 1877.

Latest CDS date is 23 Dec 1875.

None on document but I have several 1875, 1876, and 1877 dates.

StateRevs, for the R152's can you tell if any are dated in Sep 1875 (would not expect to find any)?

Any of these also dated in either October or November 1875?

Can we see what you have?

Thanks in Advance

Stampmaster,

Apologies - I didn't read your post properly and so missed the R152 comment.

Although I have several R152s in an envelope, none of them have made it into the calendar.

I intend to look for dates (and doubled frame lines).

Apologies for posting before I realized what you were after.

Regardless - here is a scan of my latest non-battleship date; 28 June 1877.

StateRevs, the problem is that last digit could be a 2 rather than a 7, just the pen trailed off before creating the bottom serif. Without it being on document, there's no way to know what the actual date is.

Stampmaster,

Just to verify, the significance of your scan is that it is an early use, as opposed to a late usage?

Thanks!

Revenuecollector:

How about:

17 Dec 1875

10 Jun 1876 (10?)

27 Jan 1877

I have many more but tried to get the ones that were clearly the later dates.
