I have seen a handwritten not with a comment about the WW2 internment camp covers. There are two points.
1) The stamps for the 30 cent airmail cost were put on by the Canadian censors to prevent messags being concealed on the back of the stamps if they were attached by the POWs
2) Some ? All ? letters / cards were treated with a chemical to check for secret writting hence the blue colour of some letter forms.
Can anyone confirm this or better still is there any published information about this.
If I am not mistaken, the BNAPS (British North American Philatelic Society) has just recently published a book on this topic. If you Google BNAPS Publications, you should be able to get a title up? If not, it was about internees in Europe?? Other than that, I am not aware of other publication. At any rate, the BNAPS book department should have a book listing.
Bujutsu - I suspect you mean the Exhibit series book. "Internment Mail in Canada" I have a copy of that and it concentrates on mail from the camps and their postal history without apparently going into any detail about the systems behind the process used. Not does it not cover the different printings of both the letter and post card forms used though the inernment period. If no one here can help I will try to contact the author
There is another book "Behind Canadian Barbed Wire" that is more to do with the imnmates themselves not the postal sstem.
