filipo. Your stamps are 6d, but the title of the thread is 9d. You can go ahead and fix it.
I believe that there are several different types of broken frame line on these stamps. If you are asking about the Die III indicator, you would need to zoom into the upper right corner and post a better quality scan. |

Thanks Partime. I have changed the name of the topic. I thought about die III in Scott catalogue, which is, I can see now, IIA in Stanley Gibbons. So, my point was that broken framlines paralel to Exmouth could be those which indicates the die IIa... however, in SG I just saw that those should more above these... parallel to eyebrows of the kanaroo... |

Yes, the break you are describing is the one almost directly across from the eyes of the kangaroo, on the inner frame. At least the cancel is clear on both of your examples. A good magnifier should pick it up.
But if you see the break in the inner frame, you now have to eliminate Scott Die IV, SG Die IIB which is shown usually by a break in the upper right frameline, and usually also indicated by a slightly rounded corner of the outer frameline in the same area. Your first example could be an SG Die IIB, while I am not sure about your second example. Again, it all depends on whether you see the broken inner frameline across from the roo's eyes. Good luck. |

As both of the above appear to have been postmarked 1916 it is unlikely that they are Die 2B. The Die 2B plates were not introduced until mid 1921. As the outer frame break for the Die2A is usually very clear even in scans of that size it is unlikely that either is a Die2A. The break is 9mm from top left corner. I also note that both stamps appear to have a break in the first shade line below the last E of pence. This break although common on the sixpence does not appear on the substituted cliche.
