Rain like hell? No rain in hell this weekend or any other, so not like Florida at all.

From what I see, I'd fork out the $40 or so to get an opinion from the PF. If you do, please share the opinion here. It's not a great example of a Z grill, but may be typical for old worn stamps.

Sorry to all Floridians and to any grill lovers out there. I hate grills almost as much as flat plate WF coils. And bless Bill W, but he was wrong now and then: no graphite on scarce grills please. This one already looks worn out. Imagine smearing some graphite on it then rubbing it with an eraser, no matter how soft, until the graphite is gone. If you have a hard time seeing ridges now, it would be even harder after the eraser treatment.

Thank you for the other answers and thoughts about this grill. In the meantime I tried a scan where I didn't see anything at all and several other photos of which I show two here. Actually I see this grill pretty clear and normal with my eyes but he hides quite skillfully when it comes to getting captured on a non volatile storage media.

By the way I decided to not use graphite - as I want to keep a Z grill which is difficult as an example for the future. If it's more clear it's not a good example for the next stamps in question.

I know I already got some answers but I am glad to get more opinions if these news photos show more. The longer I look the more nice horizontal ridges I discover.

Also I would like to know: If it could be a Z grill but is damaged (to 1/20 of CV as mentioned here before) I wonder if you in my position would trying getting a certificate if the stamp is just worth the fee?

I see little value in continuing to rehash the question. Bill said it all with this comment

This sums it up perfectly, additional input really isn't necessary. Figure out the cost of a cert and decide if you think it is worth it, depends on what you plan to do with the stamp. If you send it in please let us know the results.

I was not happy with my first photos, then I tried a scan which was worse and then again some photos. With these new photos above I hope you can see more - if I would not think so, I would not have uploaded them for sure. So if anyone gets a new or better idea of the grill I am still glad to hear it. If not, it's ok of course to know that most of you consider the possibility of it being a Z grill but should be sent in.

About the cert - I don't want to sell it but keeping it as an example as mentioned. So the cert would just as a plus for myself. Perhaps I will wait and collect some more stamps for the PF and then send it in.

I wouldn't discount the possibility that the grill is entirely fake. It has some characteristics that (to me) do not look normal, even for worn grills.
