I wonder if this is a genuine stamp, a proof, or just a plain forgery. Genuine examples of the unissued stamps are extremely rare.

I am from New Brunswick.
I would never buy that piece of junk !

New Brunswick issued its first stamps on September 6th, 1851. It is possible to find stamps of the first issue cut in half, because it was the custom when necessary to use only half of its value. Funny fact, the stamp # 5 was never issued, because Postmaster Charles Connell had decided to use his portrait rather than that of Queen Victoria. The stamps were recalled by the governor. Connell burnt most of them, but kept some copies in souvenir. On July 1st, 1867, New Brunswick joined the Dominion of Canada.(ref Arpin Phil)

Good man Renden..And yes I would buy it for 5 dollars and send it to a person I know who repairs stamps for about 5 or 10 dollars and save it as item to look at.

Was this stamp issued and withdrawn or was it never issued as an essay?
