IMHO is the same as IMO except iy adds Humble to the phrase

I've seen the term wing used on British stamps that are wide at the right or left, but can't recall of they are imperf on the wide side or perfed.

MKFARM said "good think you didn't use IMHO". To me I did not understand, just spell it out so everyone know as such: In My Humble Opinion (IMHO), if you use abbreviations, your audience must know what you are saying by using an abbreviation.

Nobody has come up with a replacement for Pick Up Points (PUP), seems to me like this is an excellent usage!

I've always thought Scott should list things like this (or at least footnote them, like they do for other cool oddities like aniline ink "pink backs", etc.) I find fantails every bit as interesting (probably more so) than the minor die varieties that they give numbers to & dedicate catalog space for pricing...

stampmaster, IMO no one on the internet is going to spell out common abbreviations :-) But there are a million sites like this to help you decipher, and before you know it, you'll be using them too:

I was searching for "FT", under HOME there was 2 possible meaning, under RANDOM there was 2 possible meaning, under TRENDING Terms there was 3 possible meaning, under SUGGESTIONS there was 3 possible meaning. So then I tried the SEARCH, which did not find any meaning for FT.

Hi John Becker, I do not have a beef with you, and find most of your posting interesting!

But when someone uses an abbreviation that I'm not aware of it takes away from the topic of the posting, so I ask what the abbreviation means.

You made an excellent suggestion, I should message me off line, sound like a good idea, but how do I go about doing that?

Stampmaster, I am the one who first mentioned the term fantail. It is used in the philatelic literature. (See Chapter 8 of Gary Griffith's "United States Stamps 1922-26" for one.) I did NOT use any abbreviation for it. Another poster did - only once. Why do you continue to drag this around? Stop this whining, please. If you cannot contribute positively to this thread, please cease posting to it so the rest of us can make progress. (typed while you were typing your message above, but I will leave this post unchanged)

Coil waste "sheets" were perforated in machines set up with ten rows of perforating pins. Since eleven rows were needed, the top or bottom row, at the margin of the paper roll was left imperforate. Initially the top margin was left imperforate. Later, the bottom margin was not perforated. Some Scott numbers exist with imperf top and imperf bottom examples. I agree it would be helpful to list or note these varieties in the specialized catalog.

IMO - Management should clean up this thread by removing the IMO posts and rolling back posting credits for the removed posts.
