Impossible to tell from your photo as the stamp is angled away in the picture and the top half of the stamp is dark. Based on your photo and that the perception of the color could change with physical viewing under the correct lighting, I would say "Violet Brown" shade.

While your scan is not the best you can use these two sites as long as you have a perforation gauge and know how to water mark.

Stamp is perf 11, thus Scott 518.
No watermark, so that step is not needed
3 shades listed by Scott: violet brown, black violet, and (the pricey and ulikely) deep brown. And as noted in countless threads on this Forum, subtle color variations are nearly impossible to determine through scans/internet - especially from photographs.

@PETERMEGALLY, You stamp appears it might be perforated 10, but very difficult to tell for sure.

You always need to use the water mark process, I always do, even on known stamps that were not watermarked, this process will reveal any hidden faults if there are any.

If you do not have a scanner, might I suggest you photo your stamp straight on if possible, or if you have a small light weight camera, arrange books in a square with an openning just large enough for your camera, then see if you can get a better photos. Of course the books all have to be the same size if possible, and you do not have to use books. What ever you use, try to get all the same height and level.

Many years ago I visited your country, and the food was really good.

Good luck in your stamp collecting adventures.

The stamp is #518, Perf. 11x11 unwatermarked. Most likely violet-brown. As stated, color is subjective on images posted on the internet.

Totally agree... however, if the OP feels he has a 518b, then the
recommendation would be to send it to the PF for expertizing.

The first thing would be to look at one of the upper corner areas with a strong glass (15x or more). Look at the edges of the frame lines and corner lines; if any violet is visible it is not the brown.
