Hi all,

the stamp I have is in a color that is not listed in the standard Michel. My dealer suggested that I best consult the Facit of AFA. Does anyone here on the forum have one of those and could post or send me a scan of the corresponding page?

Thanks in advance,
Klaus

@Sorsh,

thanks.

The Michel mentions for Thiele II the following colors:

red brown
yellowish-brown
chestnut-brown

My dealer had stamps in these three colors and one in the same color as mine, so mine is none of the colors mentioned in Michel. What price tag is attached to the dark red brown?

Would it be possible to make scans of the Facit and AFF pages, I'd appreciate to have that additional info of that stamp?

Klaus

yellowish and chestnut are thiele III... thiele II only comes in dark red brown (yours) and black brown.

i can take pic of the afa page, but it's in danish.

i can also attempt to take pictures of the various shades from my collection, but it's really difficult to make much out of shades from pictures.

the dark red is listed at 500 DKR approx €65

2 shades are valued somewhat higher.. the chestnut - easy to determine, and nutbrown (quite rare, and a tricky shade to determine)

@Sorsh,

a picture of the catalogue page would be great, Danish isn't a problem, I have Danish colleagues at work.

A pic of the different stamps in different shades side by side might be helpful, so please, yes.

Ferslev

The burlage is always visible through the cancel, almost always cancelled with a mute cancel.

Thiele I and II

Ia various shades of redbrown
IIa dark red brown (saturated colours)
IIb blackish brown : for some reason quite often with wide margins, and a more worn expression

Ia, IIa and IIb in that order on picture.

Thiel III

in AFA the IIIa shade is more or less for people with no clue as to what shade they have.

with thiele III its quite normal to have dark shades assemble light shade of a previous print, so can be a little tricky to tell them apart.

IIIb is yellowish brown in shades (darker and more worn shades tend to look greyish brown)

Thiele IIIe (f)

chestnut, very warn reddish hue - easy to tell apart from the rest.

nutbrown, I don't own a copy myself, it's much rarer than the rest.
the color is like chestnut, but much more brown than red.

2 examples of chestnut.
