This 2¢ Schermack type III is on cover dated 1919 so naturally I'm assuming it's a 532. As always I struggle with these so any help is always appreciated.

Hi Stallzer, 532 is an offset printed type IV. Your stamp is not 532.

It appears like maybe it is a flat printed stamp, but would need more information first:

Watermarked it, so is it watermarked or not (also a good time to check for hidden faults ((if any).

Compare you stamp with images in the Scott Catalog for which type it is. Cannot tell for sure with your image.

Perhaps a scan of the reverse might or might not help if you are unsure how to tell the differences for the two printed methods.

Hope this helps.

Your stamp appears to be a type I. So it is either Scott 409 if watermarked or Scott 482 if not watermarked.

I think this one is on a letter sort of hard to watermark and I doubt the back side will show much. At least I'm pretty sure that is what is meant by ON COVER.

I agree it is a type I

Strong shading in the first curve of the ribbon above the left 2. And it appears to have one in the second curve above right 2.

The button on to go has a faint outline.

The top line of toga rope from button to front throat is faint.

There appears to have shading lines of the face terminate in front of the ear with little or no joining to form a lock of hair.

Yes it is on cover and to me not worth lifting to find a watermark. I was strictly going by date of course. Thanks for the identification.

Given a use date of 1919, it is most likely Scott 482.
