This is a follow-up to an earlier post. I am still educating myself and I really do appreciate the input. Some of the pairs I posted appear to be fakes. A few seem good and match up on all the criteria I have seen. This pair is unclear for me. The perfs are not perfectly round. I see a decent sign of appropriate looking perfs, but I'm not sure. Maybe they are slightly too perfect :).

OK, but the real question I have is the one misaligned perf. My first reaction was, reperf, but then I noticed that the one misaligned perf is consistent in all three rows of perfs. That is, the same perf is always slightly offset and always in the same direction by about the same amount.

I'm thinking this might be a misaligned pin rather than a reperf. I saw on the PSE identification site that a single misaligned perf might be a sign of a bent pin. Since it repeats in all three rows that sounds like a good argument for it being that. Obviously I could bring into the PF, maybe that's the ticket, but I do appreciate any feedback from those with more experience in this topic.

Here's the same photo with some lines and arrows to point out the misaligned perf.

The perforations are perfectly round and lack visible fibers. Direct examination by an expert is recommended, but the perforations are unlikely to be genuine. The slightly misaligned perforation makes it a better fake, not worse, but since it repeats, it is part of the signature of that particular perforating machine. The same pins were used over and over to create the three perforation rows. Carefully measure the margins to determine if they are parallel or not. A computer with a good scanner and Photoshop Elements or a 10x loupe with a measuring reticule would be required to measure to at least the nearest 0.1 millimeter. If the edges are parallel, the pair could be from an imperforate coil strip. Otherwise, the pair would have been cut from an imperforate sheet. Also check the perforations by carefully comparing with a perf 12 sheet stamp. Even if the perfs match and the edges are parallel, they look bad.

I notice the top and bottom perfs "line" moves in an upward direction (left to right) the middle perf line seems to be very horizontal.

I agree with Clark, the holes do not look right.

all perf rows need to run parallel to each other. Correct?
