Back in 1976 I purchased a mint block of 6 Republic 1919 to 1923 40 Pfennig Flugpost Biplane Michel#112-Scott DE C2 unused 6 block with plate block number H5824-20 in the bottom selvage. My block has no gum. Yesterday on ebay I found a similar mint block of 6 with exactly the same number H5824-20 which apparently still has its original gum. I currently have 43 mint German full sheets which I have obtained for the selvage borders. If plate block numbers are being forged then I want to know. Is it possible that I am misunderstanding the meaning of the H5824-20 or is one or both of these forgeries? ,

All copies of MiNr 112 will have one of two HAN numbers -- H 3659.19 or H 5824.20. -- as those were the two job numbers for those print jobs. |

The HAN Haus Auftrags Nummer on your stamps are correct. There were 2 different ones issued on this stamp. The number behind the . is the year of order(1920) of these stamps. The number in front is a order number. The other number is H3659.19, so an order from 1919.
This a basic explanation, I am sure others will join in to ad to this post with their knowledge.
Kind regards,
Johan.

What do you find Fishy perf12, the price?
catalogue value for a sheet likes this, I would put between 45 and 50 euro.
A lot of collectors regretfully have no interest in complete sheets due to their size. Difficult to store or frame etc.
So prices for certain issues are low, to low? Yes, but it is what it is.
Kind regards, Johan. |

Unfortunately my block of 6 are not the Mi Nr. 112b but I wish I could find my own full sheet of Michel #112. I guess I gave up looking too soon.

Brian, welcome to the forum. And by the way, it is the Weimar Republic, not Wiemar.

From Wikipedia translated from German. House order number The house order number (HAN, rare HAN) is in German, the plate pressure produced stamps occurring digit sequence on the margin of sheet was printed and is identical to the modification of the printing numerical detection of the respective financial year print jobs members. House order numbers are also in the stamp issues of the Allied Control Council for the Soviet , American and British occupation zone 1946 to 1948 and with stamps of the Bundesdruckereito 1966. The collection of sheet margins with house order numbers and their documentation is a special area of #8203;#8203;the philately of Germany, which is cultivated by many philatelists . These pieces are often used to enrich a country collection.
Table of Contents 1 HAN in the Reichsdruckerei 2 HAN in the Bundesdruckerei 3 printouts for GDR stamps 4 References 5 Weblinks HAN in the Reichsdruckerei
House order number on the margin of a stamp of 1923 In the Reichsdruckerei all the print orders of the Reichspostamt or the Reichspostministerium (Reichspostministerium) became, but also of other authorities and offices in the respective business year. In order to be able to clearly assign the printed work to the respective orders, the respective house order number was printed on the margin. For the first time at the beginning of the financial year 1902 (1 April 1902 to 31 March 1903), the house order number of the Reichsdruckerei is printed on stamp sheets. It initially consisted of three (beginning with the number 101) or four digits. Probably at the beginning of the financial year 1904 a large "H" was set before the respective number. At the end of the financial year 1908 and then continuously from 1909 onwards, the respective fiscal year with its last two digits was recorded behind the actual house order number, separated by a single point. For example, a HAN of 1908 is H 5824.08. Thus, it was now possible for the collector to create a clear chronology of the print jobs. If the HAN was initially printed in various places on the printing sheet, it is later found mostly under the two middle fields of the last series (fields 95 and 96 for a sheet with 100 marks).
The house order number was also used for orders for which the already existing stamp sheets had to be provided with an imprint . Trademark sheets with imprint therefore carry in part two house order numbers.
HAN in the Bundesdruckerei With the code customary at the Reichsdruckerei, the house order number was also used in the Bundesdruckerei until the first quarter of 1950. The HAN was then changed as follows: Example 16274.51 1, where 16 is the code for the print job by the mail, 274 the order number, and 51 the year of the order. The trailing 1 is the form number , a marking to be found during the platen printing for the different plates of the printing form. From 1953 the code was changed from 16 to 15. There was another change from 1955 onwards: before the postal order number, the final number of the order year was also placed. A typical HAN now had the following appearance: 515041.55 1, The 5 for the order year (in this case 1955), 15 the postal code, 041 the order number, and 55 the printing year. The 1 again indicates the form number. By using this code, it was possible to distinguish between order and print year.
The last Federal German postage stamp with HAN was the 1 Pf number edition on fluorescent paper, which was printed in 1966 the last time.
Print notes on GDR stamps While the house order numbers were used for the in-house inspection of the respective printing house, the print registers occurring in the case of the GDR brand arches primarily had the function of documenting the legality of the printing order carried out. They contain the name of the printer, possibly with the respective license number, information on the print run height, the printing date, These print marks can be found on the lower margin of the stamp. They also occur on whole numbers .
