I use a very popular stamp inventory software. I am curious on opinions as to why there is such a large discrepancy/variation between what Scott publishes for values and the software places for values. EX: Russia SC#1356 is $10.00 in 2014 Scott but is $6.12 in the software. Intentionally not mentioning software name as I am extremely pleased with the program. Is this an attempt to get closer to a "real value"? When it comes to insured value should I use the deflated Scott value or add 30 - 40% to my software value? Thanks all for your opinions!
So if the program is retail then what is the higher value in Scott considered. List maybe? I guess I can help ID the program by saying it is from Canada? It is in my opinion the best! Should I be using retail for insurance purposes? I did get edited once before for publishing a name so I now avoid all reference to names excepting for instance Scott.
Wheelman, I am not sure about your question, but personally I would use the list price for it. The price you would have to pay if you had to replace it. Example: I volunteer at a school library and one of my tasks is to catalog the newly acquired titles. Every book gets listed with a replacement value, even though some books are donated.
