Potential Purchase - Looking For Advice

There is a local old toy shop / collectible shop that sells pretty much anything and I came across a box of stamps. The owner, like me, doesn't know much about stamps and wanted to sell them to me as a lot for $50. There were two stamp albums and a fair amount of envelopes stuff with USA and Worldwide stamps, mostly cancelled but some "newer" looking. (Sorry I don't know the term for that). I'm not sure if $50 is worth it for the box, but I had one major question. There are a fair amount of stamps stored in the stamp albums, some hinged but most are stuck directly on the pages. Can I remove these stamps from the pages, the same way I would remove a stamp from an envelop using cold water? The reason I want to do this is because I don't want to store them in the books they have. They are really old. If I can't remove them from the stamp books I'm wondering if it is even worth pulling the trigger on. As I posted recently, I'm new to collecting and just get back into it so I'm still trying to figure out what I have in my own collection. I'm also wondering if it would be more worth my time to use the money I would spend on this stuff and order some mint stamps from a dealer in something like commemoratives which I really like. Thoughts? Here are some pictures of the stamps from the albums.

Based upon what I am seeing here, I would not pay $50-. Not even close.

Calculate the number of hours of fun you will have with the lot, say you think it will give you 10 hours of fun. That is $5 per hour.

You can get mixed lots of similar stamps for far less. Usually 2-3 cents per stamp.

We can't tell from the photos how the stamps are mounted -- probably hinges. They probably will come off fine (I use stamp tongs to cut the hinge, separating the part stuck to the stamp from the part stuck to the page.) If you want to soak the pages to remove the stamps, that is fine. I've done it when the stamps are stuck to the album page.
