I'm looking at an APS sales circuit that is offering the Scott's #144 with H grill - except I don't see any grill points.

Scotts says the H grill can be very faint.

Before I shell out $$ for this stamp, I would like to be sure it is a 144.

Is there any other clues than actually seeing a very faint H grill to otherwise identify the stamp is in fact a 144?

I think the short answer is no: what you don't see is what you don't get. If you don't see a grill at all (H or I) then if it's on hard paper it's a 155. If you are looking for a 144 don't buy this one.

Consider buying it and submitting to APEX for a cert.

Read the sales book on page 6(?) - it describes the procedures.

I submitted a few weeks ago for a copy of an RB15c I picked up from an APS circuit. If it comes back with a bad cert, I get all my costs back!

If it is good, I still get a good deal on a nice cert'd stamp.

I believe I see a grill faintly at middle left on the rear scan.

I have a cert of this stamp as a 144, yet the grill is barely visible.
