Does anyone do anything special when creating those slips of paper (tags) we use in storage sheets like Vario?

I just cut up colored sheets using a paper cutter (standard large size guillotine type). I am not that precise so my tags vary in siz) nor am I particular about color of paper so far. I bet some have dedicated colors for certain tasks and much more methodical. So far, I am not doing it for organization and not presentation but plan to use it for presentation in the future.

For example, do you have a special size, methods to create, printing on them (do you preprint then cut, etc) etc. Has anyone done white text on black background labels?

I use a "brother" label maker to create labels for my vario pages. This isn't practical if you want to include very much information -- the labels are not very wide (in thickness, not length), and not practical for more than two lines. I use them mainly just for the Scott number. Where I want more information, I write it up on regular letter sized paper in Office Word.

May not be what you are looking for, but works for me.

Thanks for feedback. I would not want anything that sticks to the page since they are not removable in my experience.

I have been wondering the same thing about tags. Does anyone know of a source for the tags that are on perforated card stock?

I've been creating my own tags--just colored rectangles on a piece of paper that I cut out neatly and write the information into. Sometimes I pre-print the information.

An example of the labels I created for my Machin collection on Vario pages. Labels are left blank and information is pencilled in.

I build a table in Word and create my labels for the stock book all at once. Then just cut them as I need them. I'll build all of the labels including the Scott# for a particular stamp series I'm working with. Any peculiar or out of the ordinary labels I'll build as I need them.
