Why would you think it's fake? It certainly appears genuine. However, it's toned as the very brown gum shows (should be a cream color) and therefore faulty. I'd much rather have a brighter no gum example soaked off a savings card.

I thought it might be fake given the $15 price vs the next closest Reputable (keyword) one I could find was $90 buy it now. Big delta and being a beginner I need informed opinions on authenticity. Your comments on condition are well taken. Thank you for this input.

The horizontal tear at the left center and the straight edge dramatically lowers its market value.

Pretty good chance that it's regummed, too.

Condition is a personal matter but the toning, SE and tear are all problematic. These are tough to find NH if that's important to you, but the toning suggests at best that this was stored with its (acidic) certificate that it was supposed to be attache to, and/or the stamp was regummed.

Regumming is a common problem on the $5 War Savings issues. Any of these with NG should be treated as a USED stamp. They were rarely cancelled, especially after W2 and W3.
