Hi, looking for an opinion here. Just purchased a nice Austrian lot on European old album pages, and have 3 to show you. The first one looks like it could be a coarse print, but not sure, and it looks in hand to have more of the reddish shade for lilac than the middle one, which is definitely a fine print. Also looks reperfed on the bottom.

Also, to anyone who knows the Austrian issues well, does the 3rd stamp look like legitimate use? It has a tear in the upper left, I know...but the collection had some really nice material, and taking that into consideration, I'm wondering if it is actual use.

Thanks, Ray

Ray, I am not an expert, but I collect Austrian Empire. The shades are hard to tell on a monitor, but I agree, the first is coarse, the second is fine. I don't see a problem with the perfs.

The Pram cancel looks OK to me, but an expert may chime in.

rdavid, I had read both of the blogs on JJ's Big Blue blog already, so I had a used coarse print, and could tell the type.

JJ's BB blog was my reason for starting to collect the Big Blue earlier this year! Now I've bought 5 of them on ebay, along with some of the country collections that Ken Relyea has had for sale there. I'm over 14,000 and counting!

Thanks! Ray

And thanks also, BeeSee....

ray - I agree with Brian about the cancellation. It seems legit postally used. Note the ink seems to have 'sweated' slightly into the surrounding paper which are quite normal for Austrian postmarks from this time.
