Thanks very much PostmasterGS, fascinating!

So my stamp which has the postmark GÖREAU is apparently pretending to be from Görkau (now Jirkov in the Czech Republic).

But why fake a postmark from completely the wrong area and then get that wrong as well?

And why do this twice (as my stamp's postmark has a different date and format) from the others shown here?

I suppose it's fortunate that the forger knew little about the subject and tried to copy an inappropriate Austrian postmark.

Thanks team

I've sorted through the rest of my used Austro-Hungarian Post Offices stamps and plan to share these as before.

Most of these will be Austrian currency stamps but a few will be French currency.

Earlier in this thread I showed some stamps used in Scutari (Shkodër) in Albania.

Here are a few more stamps used in Albania including two more from Scutari.

DURAZZO - Durrës (x3), VALONA - Vlorë:

SCUTARI in ALBANIEN - Scutari (Shkodër) (x2), SANTI QUARANTA - Sarandë (x2, 1 with French currency):

I contacted the seller asking if he knew where Goreau is. If he answers, I will post it here.

BeeSee, it will be interesting to see what the seller says.

The two post offices (cities) that I find most often are Constantinople (Istanbul) and Smyrna (Izmir), both in Turkey.

I haven't sorted my Constantinople postmarks yet but I thought it might be of interest to show a wider selection of Smyrna ones as I have many more to chose from.

I'll split these over two posts.

SMIRNE & SMYRNA: Smyrna (Izmir) (x4)

SMYRNA: Smyrna (Izmir) (x4)
