Quote: Do they have any value? Believe it or not, but stamp dealers seem to prefer the stamps and not the card housing them, I witnessed a dealer remove the specimens from 5 cards, disposing of the cards and keeping the stamps, I wonder if any of the specimens were from the second card? |

I agree that if they come in a special numbered folder that's where they should remain, but there are dealers that will remove them from the pack. I Have 2, Nos 100 & 101. All five single stamps I bought are from packs.
The above shows a sheet counter stock control number on a 1946 B.C.O.F. 6d kookaburra block of 16 (top left corner), they are scarce, and I wouldn't mind finding and collecting more. But there are dealers removing the selvedge with the stock control number. |

Quote: Pity this wasn't placed in your B.C.O.F. thread to keep thing tidy. Hi Aussie Al Although the stamps are B.C.O.F. the block of 16 is not part of my B.C.O.F. collection or the B.C.O.F. varieties, these come under a section of its own, and my ambition is to collect as many sheet counter stock control numbers as I can. I also have non B.C.O.F sheet counter stock control number blocks as well. So they will not be officially part of the B.C.O.F. collection. Rob |

Training stamps aren't easy to find. I have a near complete set of those stamps, I'll find them and post what I have.

Quote: Not specimens either which is the subject of this thread. Apologies, It was an example to what dealers are doing, and the fact that they are destroying varieties and Philas House specimen packets just to get to the stamps. I find the Philas House cards underrated and will collect as many as I can, but currently all that was within my reach have been broken apart, just like the block of 16. I am yet to find the card with the other specimen and the card with the 14½ x 14 perforation. I will refocus on the specimens. |

Quote: There are also two variations of perforations for the 7 cents and 30 cents (not mentioned in the ACSC), the stamp on the left is 15 x 14 and the stamp in the middle 14½ x 14. The second 30c specimen and 14½ x 14 perf is difficult to locate.
Rob Your middle 7c stamp counts 28 perfs and others are 27 perfs across the top of the stamp. The example I posted on the previous page counts 28 perfs across the top of the stamp. So is this the harder to come by perf variety? Have Philas House cards # 203, 204, 205 & 206. |
