That is not a postmark but an overprint. As such it should be in any Great Britain catalog, OK, I will wake up in a couple of hours,

Eastleigh (Hampshire) looks like the postmark on the left, and more than likely Bantry is the other one, as you guessed. Not sure if there was an Army office at Bantry as it strikes me as too small and the sort of place the Admiralty would have had an office instead; this is worth a bit of research. |

Interesting Postmark, not seen in any databases I know of (Bantry N ?)
Army Official, possibility? Bantry Village Postmark, serving the British interests on Bere Island ?
Wiki After the end of the Napoleonic Wars there followed a period of military stagnation. This ended in 1898 when the British military raised a compulsory purchase order on large areas of the island in order to construct additional fortifications in order to protect the British Fleet at anchor in Berehaven Harbour.

Pure speculation, of course, but if you look at a map of Bantry, much of the town is called Newtown. It even shows up as this in Google Maps. Maybe a GB postmark expert can shine a light on this? |
