How Much Is Ebay Fees ?

I have never sold stamps on ebay. what are ebay fees for selling
postage stamp on ebay. ?

Assuming a private seller and no insertion fee, the standard ebay charge is 10% of the final price, including postage (if any). Plus Paypal fee if you're using that.

What is a "private seller"? I've never heard that term.

Also, the fees vary depending on whether it is an auction or a fixed price listing and if you have a store subscription. For example, the final value fee for an ebay Store sale is 6.15% rather than 10%. Of course you have monthly store subscription fees to factor in.

"Private seller" is a non-business seller, at least in the UK.

Ahh, ok. Doing a bit more research, that appears to be a purely UK distinction, as apparently there are different regulations and requirements for "business" vs. "private" sellers on UK ebay. The U.S. does not have such a differentiation.

I suggest you go to ebay and click on SELL in the ebay toolbar; upper right side on the US version. There is more to it than just the basic fees. There are PayPal fees also and ebay rules to learn.

In Australia I believe we have different definition of a business. I wonder if they match up else where.

Business that earns under AU$75,000 (does not pay GST)

Business that earns over $75,000 (Pays 10% GST) and submits every 3 months tax reports and pay GST to the Tax Office.

A couple of less obvious costs:

Paypal takes 2.9% of the total paid + 30 cents per payment.

A typical new seller is allowed 250 listings a month with no insertion fee but beware that when you list items as "good till cancelled" they count as one insertion each month. So if you have 250 items listed that way you will use up all your free listings each month automatically.

Slight correction: it's 2.9% + 30 cents... minimum. If it is an international transaction in a currency other than U.S. dollars (assuming the recipient is using U.S. PayPal), there can be additional fees. Additionally, PayPal's currency conversion rates are usually sub-market-rate, so they are making money on the conversion.

PayPal's rates can be all over the map when it comes to cross-border transactions and how the payment is funded (balance vs. bank account vs. credit card). Some of that may be dependent on the country you live in though.

(250 listings is for the smallest store option. The only good news is that, for the stamps category, it also allows you an additional 250 auctions as well. $19.95/month with a yearly commitment; $24.95/month to go on a month-by-month basis.)

Have a basic store that has listing limit of 2,610 or earn more than $45,000 per month.

And if I asked for more listings I would probably get them.

Whatever the actual number - yes it was probably 50 - this was something I didn't know at first. Since the count restarts at zero each month - I thought I could just keep listing 50 a month. Every time I added a stamp - zero charge. It wasn't until I had something like 80 or 90 listings and noticed listing fees on a month-end invoice that I realized GTC sales count every month.

The biggest problem is not the fees charged by ebay ,the problem that sellers have is the same as stamp dealers had in the past one hundred years .
The problem is relisting and paying those fees month after month . Stamp dealers at stamp shows and bourses around Chicago have been displaying the same tired and overprice stock for 40 years .It gets to the point that you just stop looking .
Let me say that again listing and relisting stuff on ebay is tiring and takes up too much time . I seen stuff on ebay that some are selling for over a year ,you as a seller need to turn your stock over to be a sucessful seller .

Yep, relisting's dominate philatelic and other listings on ebay. The number of really "new" listings seemed to me to take a big drop about October 1 this year. Is this just an ebay issue or are others seeing this as a trend in the overall market?
