I checked volume 6 UAE but I must be missing something or they are locals. I just need to break down for a new set of books. See when you go to UAE the stamps will be printed United Arab Emirates in my 2003 vol. 6. But when I go to Sharjah in my 2006 vol 5 some dates are missing? Gotcha Tom, not always do I get stumped but sometimes you can come across a tough one. |

I understand Mac.....
The problem with some of the Mid-Eastern countries is that many people consider the Trucial States as generally fake made-up countries mostly because 99.99% of stamps from there in the last 25 or so years cannot be found actually used legitimately.
.......Countries that are absorbed or those that change their name should have to post notice somewhere where collectors are able to see......maybe a TV commercial or something. |

Scott used to mention these in the "For the Record" Section; maybe they still do. |

They are produced and marketed in Europe. David(DJD) |

I find it funny when I've seen Christian themes stamps from some of "Dunes" enities, being principally Muslim region. It's all about the $$$$. |

Quote: Scott used to mention these in the "For the Record" Section; maybe they still do. That is correct, except that Scott removed the "For the Record" section in the early 1990s(?). Glad I tore them out before I recycled the old catalogs! Scott moved some of the FTR listings as an abbreviated listings section to some countries, but not for the Trucials. They were removed completely. You will have to look in Michel or SG to find them. The FTR section is incomplete, has no catalog numbers/values assigned, and only lists denominations of the set and approximate time of issue. |

Quote: The last 5 are listed in Michels (do not have the numbers) The Khor-Fakkans can be found in Michel under Sharjah-Khor Fakkan. They are from set with numbers #46 - 49 (2,3,4,5R) either as perf (A) or imperf(B). As for getting a good basic listing of Gulf state issues... Michel Gulf States (available both as German or English edition) is the MUST HAVE catalogue. Scott is utter rubbish when it comes to these... About usage / rubbish "status" of these... Well, it's not as black/white as many seem to think. A lot of the "sand dunes" stamps were printed by Barody Stamp Company (in Beirut) by the appointment of ruling government of each country. And yes, there was even continuous true postal usage with some issues despite many of these countries were just flooding the market with multitudes of questionable postal issues. But it's a long and complex topic (that I'll promise to share some day at my blog ;) ... |

That was exactly what I was looking for on those. Will be watching for a in depth topic, sound very interesting. We even had a discussion tonight at the club on the Ajman issues. |
