I use two gauges, the Precision Multi-Gauge shown earlier and the Lindner Phila-Combi-Box. It's a three dimensional set of pins. The perforation is set against the raised teeth of the gauge. It measures quarter perfs. At first I thought I would damage the perforations but it didn't happen. It isn't cheap (+USD 25) but it works great for me. No guessing. It either fits or it doesn't. Experienced stamps need a home too. I'd rather have an example that is imperfect than no example. I collect for enjoyment, not investment. APS Member #223433 Postmark Collectors Club Member #6333 Meter Stamp Society Member #1409 |

I use my Unitrode for quick perforation measurements. The black background makes the perf's stand out very nicely. I also like it because it's small and fits nicely in my travel kit.

I also like the Unitrade clearvue gauge, made in good old Canada - I have 3 - my father liked to buy in triples ! René |

It is believed that Kiusalas 11-73 does not exist but 11-72.5 is more exact for it. U.S. Scott 542 comes to mind for it. |

I've developed my own gauge in 1/4 perf increments. I can't upload it here because it's in PDF. Any suggestions? It designed to be printed full size on a Laser Printer using Copier Transparencies. I'm sending a jpg but if anyone can tell me how to upload the pdf I'd appreciate it. The resolution is bad due to the 200k limit on uploads here and it won't print to the correct scale from the jpg. If anyone wants the pdf file or can suggest anything to add to the page let me know. |

Just printed and it does not match my Unitrade gauge so there must be another way to print it besides jpg.

Any PDF has to have the resolution (both screen and print resolution) locked so that the printer drivers do not change the margins and it prints out at the exact 1:1 ratio. Here is a locked PDF which prints out correctly http://stampsmarter.com/learning/Fo...rfGauge.htmlDon Edit: Printable Perf gauges should only be used in a pinch. Buy a good perf gauge. |

I only tested it on the monitor but it seems that the JPG has still its original size and you can just easily check if it's accurate by comparing with a - good - ruler at the cm template. That works fine, so perhaps you try that, Renden, after printing the JPG file at its original size in any image processing software. |

I'm finishing up the perforation gauge. As I explained the jpeg will not print correctly unless you scale it ( a pain). If you want the pdf file which should be printed using "actual size" option it will print to the correct scale. This site will not let me post a pdf file only a jpg. *** Edited by Staff - Please Review the rules that you agreed to when you registered. *** |

Oh yeah.. the finished gauge starts at 3 and end at 17 in .1 increments in addition to 1/4 and 3/4 perfs. |
